For colorful version, go here: [link]

April is finally here, two months too late. ^^; Sorry about that guys. I'm reasonably pleased with this picture, probably my best in the month series.

The colors are washed out for a rainy effect, please see above link for the "real" version. :)

Time: Over the course of a few days, about 7-8 hours.

Tools: Printer paper, pencil, Photoshop Elements 4.0

Technical Details: After scanning it in, I did a simple inking with pen pressure and applied colors.

Additional Notes: You have no idea how annoyed I was at this; at first, the lineart was very detailed, but digital inking it was too monotonous, so I redid the sketch on the computer and lined in about 5 minutes. :D

Some parts are a bit messy, I just want to get this in before I go on vacation.

Critique welcome, I'll change any problems and straighten it up a bit when I get back. I might not get to your comments if you post tomorrow, bare with me please.

Months in Series:

January: Frostbitten

February: Lovestruck

March: Awakened

April: Drizzling

May: Blossomed

June: Rippling

July: Illusionary

I've also been practicing with watermarks, I hope it's not distracting.

Thank you and have a good day!

Wow! How cute! I really love the soft colors that you have used! The birds are also a nice touch for the picture, their design is quite interresting!

Beautiful!
Thank you very much! It was my favorite concept for the months that I planned, I was afraid it wouldn't turn out good.

The colors though...I just compared them to the original files and they are completely washed out...I might load a better version up. :)

I'm glad you like this, thank you for pointing out what you liked!
Sexy.;P I think I like it. And you do raindrops very well... how do you do it?
Thank you! I'm actually going to replace this image with another one because I didn't like the rain (and the image is too light). :XD:

Here's a very good tutorial I read before making rain: [link]

The general idea is all there.
Very beautiful and the colors make it cute, in my opinion. I really love how the birds look mechanical like yet they have a softness to them that doesn't make them look mechanical. She reminds me of a mermaid enjoying the April rain on her back on a grassy bank near the shore and the birds (are her friends) and they're bringing back her crown ('cause she's a princess in the sea). LOL Yeah, that's exactly what I imagined when I saw this. Very very beautiful and lovely. I really can't get enough of the beautiful colors you used here. :)

I'm definitely favorited it. Thank you for sharing it with us! I can't wait to see the next few months. I'm very excited! :) Awesome job!

I love them.
I love IchiHime and NaruHina. :)
April showers eh? Love the colours you've used. I'll look forward to seeing the "non-washed-out" version, heh. Although I actually like the softness of this!
I really can't believe it...your comment summed up a lot of what this picture represented. She is sort of a princess, I suppose, but the birds are definitely her friends. I'm so pleased to know that you saw the "soft mechanical" parts of the birds; symbolism that you caught perfectly.

Seriously, your comment made my day. Thank you for the lovely words and encouragement! My months project is a measure of my improvement and the elements of artwork that I try and improve on each piece, I'm glad you like this one!

Thank you for the comment and for saying that you'll favorite it. :)
Yeah, April showers bring May flowers...that should give you a hint to the next title. :D

Thank you, I'm glad you like the soft colors. I'm actually ok with this version now, since it does increase the realism of "rain", but the colorful one is quite nice too.
Okay so I pretty much want to cry at the amazingness of this. I love the rain, I've definitely never been able to do rain ~.~ well, I've never tried, but I imagine I would be very bad at it XD;
I can definitely tell you're improving in anatomy. I especially like her pose, it doesn't look forced or stiff. Her eyes look a little more wide-set than is your wont... but keep it! I like it better that way.

I love this, Akanei-Rin! It's really quite fantastic! I am with the others when I say that you did a really great job on the colors and the rain is just simply awesome!
