Report a Policy Violation
For those who have many watchers, and for those who don’t have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.

You may critique to your hearts' content now.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For *Nefis' contest. For some reason, I can't get a clear image until the stress of a deadline comes by, and then I get really inspired. Thankfully I made it in the nick of time, yet again. Same thing happened with *shilin's contest, I entered literally 15 minutes before the exact deadline.  I'll get to messages now, I couldn't afford to waste any time the previous days. Thank you for being patient. :] ----- Reason for drawing The Black Queen: I've always loved Nefis' Queen/King series, but I especially loved the Black Queen. I don't know why, but that particular character design really popped out to me. Then *Nefis drew "Inside", and it struck a chord. I've always been fond of tragic/sad characters, and the Black Queen became an enigma. The theme of the picture is hopelessness, which the right side represents. Phantalassa continually searches for the 10 keys to "Ete's Garden", no doubt struggling through many challenges- everything seems hopeless. In the end, I think she succeeds- she is strong and finally, after reaching her goal, lets her tears run freely. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Time: 40 minutes for sketch, 1.5 hours lining, 2 hours base colors, 10+ hours detailing/effects. Tools: - GIMP 2.0 for sketch - openCanvas 4.5+ for lineart and detailing - Photoshop CS3 Ex for base colors and effects I definitely used *shirotsuki's art style as inspiration and I must say, I really enjoyed painting using her methods! The green backlighting was added because it'd be too dark otherwise. xD It's also watermelon-y.  -- The world isn't black and white; DA isn't split into "you must be jealous" and "omg i luv ur work!" It's called constructive criticism. Thank you Connie.

I really like the right image. The coloring is very pretty and I LOVE the emotion. She looks so sad and looks like she has given
up all hope. I also like her character design and how you drew her hair flowing upward. I have to admit though I don't really like the left image very much. The coloring is nice, but I don't really like her face. I hope this doesn't sound harsh, but it seems kind if manly to me. Her face is rather long and her chin is sharp for a girl's face. On the left image I do like the sadness in her eyes and how you colored them. I didn't design the character though, it's *Nefis's character and I drew these two for her contest. Glad you like the flowing hair. I didn't really want critique on this, since it was a contest entry, I don't really mind yours. I went back and made her a bit more girly, if it helps.
