Basically, the last book was a pure disappointment. I think I hated it on the same level I hated the 5th book, except this one had some redeeming qualities (as in, interesting deaths/chapters).
JK sure did a rush job on the book; the writing quality was pretty awful, and like many people have said, you can totally skip 3 pages and not miss a thing. Too much detail and badly written angst on unnecessary things. In fact, the entire middle part both bored me to tears and irritated me to the ends of hell, that's Rowling's definition of "teenage emotions/action".
I think I'm the most disappointed in the completely new elements she introduced last minute. I thought we were just sticking with the sexy Horcruxes, okay? And then she had to add in some uber-one hit K.O. objects from a fairytale that Voldemort was after. Yes, the Dark Lord is after fairytale objects, you know, since he's so powerless against a teenage boy!
And of course, the cliched Good vs. Evil battle...Voldemort seemed a bit like an idiotic and OOC villain in this book; why the bloody hell was he so nice? There were certain lines I had to reread, just to make sure my eyes weren't blurred.
Oho...he died in such an ungraceful and pathetic manner, I thought Voldie would have more class then that. The reason I liked the 6th book was because it showed Voldemort's past, and I thought, "Gee, he's a hip character!", and then it just completely backfires. Bleh, what a horrible end to a decent series.
P.S. Don't even get me started on the epilogue, even though it made me cry.

Aha, the club, eh? Note me for more info, I've got a funny story dealing with that.
CG is pretty hard; I love drawing hair, it's my favorite, but sometimes the skin tones on the face throw me off. Backgrounds are pretty hard too.

Yeah, I've been busy...I still haven't gotten all my financial aid stuff for this year figured out.

I enjoy HP books and films, even if there are worse and better ones. So I will read the last one and I will see all the movies, no matter what anyone says. My friend has just finished reading the last book and he pretty was disappointed with the ending as well. But you know, after reading the previous one, it all had to come to this "big and sparkling end", this "good over evil victory". So it was already said something like that can only be flat and lame. No suprises here
Well, I guess I'll have to find out myself, next year, in January, when polish translation will be ready. Thanks for the valuable opinion though!

It's pretty retarded; I've also heard she's writing an Encylopedia of Harry Potter, or using the same universe but with new characters. Argh...that's pretty stupid. I think after the series, anything else JK writes will just be for the money.

Ah, well, I'm really tough on books. There's hardly any books I actually really value the writing and such, I prefer the classics. Lord of the Flies and Fahrenheit 451, for instance; I love them.
The HP films are pretty bad/good...I liked the first and fifth movie. Considering how bad the 5th book was, the movie was enjoyable. Ah, a lot of people either hate it or love it; I'm in the first section, as well as your friend, it seems.
And you are right, no surprises. It was just annoying to see every single fan speculation and theory come true; a bit straightforward. Flat and lame is the ending, not a doubt.
Have fun waiting it out, trust me, you aren't missing out on anything big, so just enjoy while the Pottertards moan and groan.
